Youth Green Innovators Programs

Objective:

Empower youth to create climate solutions and build green enterprises. The youth green innovators program seeks to train, mentor and award young green warriors in different fields that are creating a positive impact in the field of climate change.

Background

Uganda has one of the youngest populations globally, with over 77% under the age of 30. This demographic presents a significant opportunity to address climate change through youth-led economic innovation.

Engaging young people in green technologies, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy not only builds their entrepreneurial skills but also fosters climate resilience and economic growth.

By equipping Uganda’s youth with tools and knowledge to drive climate-smart solutions, the country can harness their potential to combat unemployment, reduce environmental degradation, and create a sustainable future, ensuring their active role in shaping a green economy.

Activities:

  1. Host innovation competitions for climate-related projects (e.g., waste recycling, solar-powered tech).
  2. Offer mentorship, training, and seed funding for youth-led green businesses.
  3. Partner with tech companies and universities to establish green innovation hubs.
