About Us

Who we are

The Green Caravan Initiative was born out of a deep-seated commitment to addressing the urgent and escalating challenges posed by climate change in Uganda and beyond. Recognizing the devastating impacts of climate change— such as flooding, crop failure, landslides, energy poverty, and the decimation of forest cover—we saw a critical need to amplify the voices of local communities and empower them to take ownership of their climate future.

Our initiative is built on the belief that while global and national efforts to combat climate change are essential, lasting change must begin at the grassroots level. Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a social, economic, and cultural challenge that requires localized solutions. By starting in the villages, parishes, counties, and districts, we aim to carry the message of climate action like a caravan, moving from community to community, speaking the unique language of each area, and fostering a deep, inclusive dialogue

The Green Caravan Initiative is more than just an awareness campaign. It is a movement that seeks to understand the lived experiences of communities, assess the social impacts of climate change, and co-create solutions that resonate with local realities.

Through conversations, debates, visual and audio art, and innovative storytelling, we engage communities in a way that is both relatable and empowering. Our goal is to build capacity, mobilize social awareness, and inspire collective action, creating a critical mass of informed and motivated individuals who can drive sustainable change from within.

We believe that climate action must be rooted in the perspectives of those most affected. By empowering communities to learn, create, and participate in climate solutions, we are not only helping them adapt to the evolving climate but also fostering a sustainable society that thrives in harmony with nature.

Is to create an empowered society capable of finding innovative solutions to climate challenges, enabling sustainable living and building resilience for communities to adapt effectively

To be the leading green climate voice in Uganda, empowering citizens to share their stories and engage actively in combating climate change.
