Educate Ugandan communities, especially youth, about climate change, sustainable practices, and their role in combating its effects.
Studies by various groups estimate that 70% of Ugandans are unaware of the causes and impacts of climate change, despite experiencing extreme weather events like prolonged droughts and unpredictable rains. For example, in 2016, droughts devastated 1.3 million people in Karamoja, yet many attributed it to natural cycles rather than environmental degradation.
This knowledge gap underscores the need for the Green Caravan Initiative to educate communities on climate change, empowering them with knowledge to adopt sustainable practices and mitigate its impacts.
Through awareness campaigns, the initiative can transform attitudes and foster resilience against Uganda’s growing climate challenges.
